I’m trying to write a poem
But words are off the track
I’m running around after them
But they aren’t coming back
They’re all over the house
But on this blank page
Jumping bouncing everywhere
To avoid the dreaded cage
I won’t be able to write again
They’re a nuisance, a maniac
I’d have to find a new job
Oh wait they’re coming back

Dear Frank ,
You have got a unique style of writing poems. Loved it manπππ

Authentic and well expressed. I think each one of us feels at a loss when words do not come easily to craft a poem or any other creative writing. But once you get started the words are there just in the process. I believe we are all word weavers: https://momentsbloc.wordpress.com/2017/05/30/i-just-met-a-turtle/

Frank, your poem is wise and funny. I can see all these words frolicking, having a day off. Let them.
They will probably teasingly come back and wake you up wanting to be written. π

No words want to leave your company, Frank.. they returned as soon as you threatened them.

I am glad I am not the only poet who has this trouble. I have written a few poems on the horrir of the blank page. Don’t worry. The colour white is very therapeutic and provides endless oportunity for expression.

Sometimes poems and I are not on friendly terms –
The Terror of the Empty Page
I stare at the empty page
and the page stares back at me.
We are not friends.
It tells me my thoughts are worthless.
Nobody wants to hear what I have to say.
That thought saps the power from my pen.
My pen becomes heavy and slow
and untalkative.
I push through that feeling of inadequacy by
writing my thoughts down, no matter
how silly or weird.
Maybe someone else understands the
quicksand feeling of wanting to do something
but feeling that it is impossible.
I share that feeling and understand.
If I don’t move forward, I stay in the same spot.

A job?
Quick, get them on the page.
