We tried our best to hold together
Through all the rainy, stormy weather
But it wasn’t meant to be
We knew we’d end up separate
As somebody else wrote our fate
You were sent away from me
Now we’re wandering on our own
In our worlds but all alone
It is such a mystery
How Love itself doesn’t have a heart
For playing such a cruel part
All that’s left is a memory

Your writing is wonderfully heartfelt, Frank. I try to write in a similar manner. After all, as the Beatles (that ages me!) once sang, All you need is love ❤

There was a “We” but now “We” are just a memory, for the speaker, who stands alone.

Hello Frank,
Thank you for creating such a beautiful poetry blog and thank you for sharing this deeply touching poem. Its evocative imagery and poignant expression of love and loss resonated deeply with me. The way you’ve captured the essence of separation and the powerlessness we sometimes feel against fate is both beautiful and heart-wrenching. The line about Love not having a heart is particularly striking, prompting reflection on the unpredictable nature of love and life.
I have written a piece called Reasons Seasons and True Friends that may resonate with you that I would like to share.

It is not absolutely not love when you don’t care for her/him in sickness/hardship/difficult times. I will not accept such a person in my life.
