Not really a comment on the poem itself, but kindness is actually key to survival for social species like humans. In fact, many evolutionary scientists are trying to replace the phrase “survival of the fittest” with “survival of the kindest” since new understandings of human survival point to cooperation being the most important aspect of any human survival tactic. Those that survive are those that work with others and care. Just a thought…
