All by itself
It doesn’t need a hero
For validation
A hero, on the other hand,
Needs a villain
More than anything else
More than a comrade
More than a superpower
More than a lover
It can be an arch enemy or
A force of nature or
Simply someone with contrasting goals
Hell, the villain can be the hero itself
Its own dark spirit
Its own struggle and turmoil within itself
A villain can exist by itself
A hero can’t
It’s the villain who makes a hero

I agree, as long as it’s a superhero and not a regular hero. A regular hero can save a dog from a frozen lake.
