The Slumberers

When seeds of darkness begin to grow
The world is quickly enveloped in a sheet of calm
Glittering, silver moonlight
Guards every window
To try and keep the stars at bay

Little children are tucked to sleep
With gentle kisses upon their cheeks
Their mums and dads follow them
Soon after into the slumberland

Pink fairies in the garden
Who danced upon the flowers
When sunshine fell upon the petals
Have also retreated to their mysterious caves

Black ants crawling below the soil
Have locked up their food in the storage
And are also seeking a small nap
Once the queen has given her permission

The gods in the heavens above
Weary of countless prayers and wishes
Have picked the clouds for a pillow
To rest their heads for a little while
Before the chores of the next day

Even the demons in the galaxy
Tired of causing chaos and disorder
Have marched back to their caves
Leaving their work for another night

All is quiet and serene
You can almost hear the stars twinkle
All the lives are recharging
For their parts in the universe
There is no good now, no evil
Neither a right way nor wrong
Only the cream of innocence reigns now
Upon the faces of the slumberers

  2. Your synthesis beautifully captures the essence of the poem. As darkness falls, the world, bathed in moonlight šŸŒ•, rests peacefully 😓, with innocence reigning as all beings recharge 🌌.
    Wonderful poem 😊
