Observations #1

Either I am surrounded by idiots
Or perhaps I was wrong in assuming
That love is exclusive to fools
If my eyes are not deceiving me
I can confirm that love has affected everyone around me
It has not restricted itself to vertebrates with negligible erudition
It has gripped one and all
I have a notebook with me where I have taken the strain of listing and describing all the symptoms associated with this singular curiousity
I must admit the notebook is laden with words I had not come to expect
Blindness, deafness, insomnia, loss of appetite, corrupted memories, sullenness interjected with periods of extreme elation, and madness to name a few
The findings are surprising, but not shocking

  1. We must be writing of selfish, conditional love, here ~ because universal love, in my experience, brings clear vision, clear hearing, the ‘sleep of the just,’ health and healthy appetite and a temperament which will carry one in control through the most outrageous and unlikely scenarios, and sanity.

Of course, ones fellowman ~ as with Jesus ~ will then do it’s best to make earthly existence impossible for you. And yes they generally do succeed.

Hey, I really like your blank verse, brother. 👌

  2. A study published in the Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences suggests that there are as many as 27 different categories of emotions.
Robert Plutchik believed that humans can experience over 34,000 unique emotions but, ordinarily, they experience eight primary emotions.
I dislike them all: unobtainable, unachievable, unsustainable, some undesirable.
    Wars have been fought.
    Statues and buildings built.
    Movies, books, poems, songs written.
We pine. We mourn. We grieve.
We love. We loose. We sing.
We shout. We cry. We rejoice.
But only for the briefest of time.
    That feeling slides into memory.
    A drug for the mind.
    Fuel for my pen.
    Flame for my brain.
    Unobtainable, unachievable, unsustainable!
