“I don’t want to try
I’d rather sit here and cry”
Said the little bird to herself
“It pretty much stinks
To have pretty blue wings
But how can I help myself?”
She sat on a branch thinkin’
“Does God have a special plan?”
Her hopes began shrinkin’
Her eyes watery and blinkin’
She just didn’t know when
She’d finally understand
How to fly over land
Cast the fears from her heart
The end of it all
If she were to fall
She didn’t even wanna start
Talking about her weak wings
And the weakness of her soul
Well even the king of kings
Is frightened by things
That are not in his control

Interesting thoughts you have left out there. Anand Bose from Kerala

In fact God does have a plan; just read Genesis 3:15 in the holy Bible, and if you really want to understand what it means go to JW.org

Fear is something we all must discard, lest dreams become shattered, as glass into shards.

Wonderful poem Frank. Through the little insecure bird you explore fears and weakness.
Brilliant.
I hope the bird used its beautiful blue wings.

I am liking this bird poem series very much, Frank. The three poems are very deep in thought, with beautiful imagery and rhyming. I wonder about the feminisation of this bird, her fear to fly and her admitted weakness that paralises her. Could this also be a metaphor for women’s fight for equality of rights and duties?

Well you must wait till the series ends. May be you’d have a better idea then.

I was once told by one of the Blue Angels that there’s no difference between the thrill of flying and the fear of falling.
