This series was a great way to trick my mind into learning a new language and spending time doing something productive. This blog has been a useful platform to do that and share some of the knowledge I have gained with others. Here’s the last part of the series (for now). Going forward I will be posting poems as usual. But if you have found this series interesting and want me to do more of it or if you have any suggestions for me do let me know in the comments. Also, I will be pleased to hear from you if you managed to learn a few German words in the process or if this series ignited a fire in you to learn German or any other language.

Learning German Is (Almost) Easy: Part 13 – Cosmos

I’ve learnt some new English words. Thanks. But the term ‘Space’ is a little bit ambiguous: it can mean both ‘Raum’ – en:'(free) room’ or ‘Weltraum’ – en:’The Universe’ in German.

Yes. You are right. I should have used Weltraum. I think the word ‘platz’ is more suited to words like parkplatz and not related to cosmos. Thanks for pointing that out. 👍

Hey, not bad at all! As a native German speaker who has helped many friends learn this difficult language, I know how challenging it can be.

The way German language combines words to form a bigger word is probably what makes it toughest for someone who is not used to it in his native language

Yes, every language has its pitfalls. English is quite easy, but German has many aspects that students struggle with. Good luck!

Tell me about it. Being a German, it took me 10 years to achieve a degree of creative writing competence and I’m still in the middle of learning…
