Let’s start with the easy ones:

The taxi is called das Taxi
The car is called das Auto
The bus is called der Bus
The van is called der Kleinbus (klein meaning small)
The jet is called der Jet
The zeppelin is called der Zeppelin
The tractor is called der Traktor

Let’s make it a little tricky:

The boat is called das Boot
The sailboat is called das Segelboot
The canoe is called das Kanu
The yacht is called die Jacht
The ship is called das Schiff
The rocket is called die Rakete
The spaceshuttle is called der Raumtransporter (raum meaning space)

Now let’s get to the tough ones:

The train is called der Zug
The plane is called der Flugzeug
The bicycle is called das Fahrrad
The motorcycle is called das Motorrad

Now you’re on your own:

The ambulance is called der Krankenwagen
The truck is called der Lastwagen
The firetruck is called der Feuerwehrwagen
The helicopter is called der Hubschrauber
The camper is called der Anhänger
The wheelbarrow is called der Schubkarren
