Hide And Seek – Part 5/13

It took me thousand of years to be born
Another 8 minutes and 20 seconds
To get to you
From the place where I was born
To the place where we now stand
Only to light up your heart
Only to bright up your path
Without asking anything in return
Without expecting anything from you
Yet you ask me to leave

I will grant you your wish
I will take my leave now
Never to bother you again
Never to intrude again
But if you wish, just for once
To see me again
To let me help you
All you have to do is open up the door
Crack the window a little
And you will find me here
I will be here

Hide And Seek – Part 4/14

She stood there looking at him
Startled by his question
Wondering if he was joking
His frightened manners spoke otherwise
As he sat in a corner
Hiding his face between his knees
She wondered if she did something
To frighten him so
Should she have knocked first?
She had never knocked before

Darkness, from his pocket, whispered
“Tell her to leave. Now.”
With a mumble and a fumble
The boy uttered, “Go.”
With his finger pointing towards the door
His face still planted between his knees
She became still, more puzzled
She wanted to laugh

When his words had no effect
He repeated them
Firmly and bolder this time

“Go away,” he said

Her cheer disappeared
She looked at him closely and realised
He had meant what he had said

Hide And Seek – Part 3/13

Once a cold, cold winter night
Like Sun hadn’t come up for days
The boy was sleeping cozily
Wrapped up in a warm blanket
With Darkness in his pocket

The rough winds rattling the window
Was the only sound they heard
On such cold, cold winter nights
The sound was harsh and cracking
Still they slept comfortable, accustomed

Tonight it was unusually quieter
The boy slept sound
But Darkness was awake
Darkness was alert
Sensing danger in the calm
Like he was to come
Face to face with his biggest fear
Sun was about to rise

He was right
He tapped the boy
Asking him to wake up
His manners were frightening and firm
The boy woke up
To a radiance
Like the one he had never seen before
The glow ignited his bones
But blinded his eyes
Covering his eyes with his hand
He asked, “Who are you?”

Hide And Seek – Part 2/13

He knew Light could harm him not
For he had seen and heard,
Through the faintest opening
Of an untouched window,
Other kids’ merriment
Playing under Light’s cover
Yet Darkness was adamant
That he cannot be friends with them

“Keep away,” warned Darkness
“Lest you become one of them
They are ignorant, foolish
They welcome Day
And shun the Night
They do not know the gains
Of having Darkness as a friend
Do you wish to be like them?”

The little boy hesitated, “But we have no new games to play.”

Darkness replied, “We shall see.”

She went through her list
Of places she had to go
People she had to meet
Corners she had to light up

“Sunshine, don’t you tire
Of running around here and there?”

“Tire?” she chuckled
“Whatever does that mean?
How can one grow tired
Of doing what one loves best?
A candle never grows tired
Of eliminating Darkness.”

“But the brighter it glows
The faster it fades
Don’t you think you ought
To take a little rest?”

With a glistening smile
She said, “We shall see.”

Hide And Seek – Part 1/13

There was a little boy
Who carried Darkness in his pocket
For Darkness was
The only friend he had ever known
The boy never stepped out
Of a dingy little unlit room
In the middle of a serene green field
All he ever did with Darkness
Was play Hide and Seek
Darkness was unwilling
To play any other game
And he was unwilling
To hurt his friend
For Darkness was
The only friend he had ever known
Though he wasn’t happy;
For the sake of his friend
He was content

There was a little girl
Carved out of Light
Who spread love wherever she went
For she was born for no other cause
All the folks beamed
At the very sight of her
For they knew the purpose of her visit
Some called her Sunflower
For bright flowers blossomed in her trail
Some others called her Sunshine
As she cheered birds to sing
She, though, liked Sparkles the most
She kept herself quite busy
For she had a lot of places to go
And a lot of love to spread
But she never grew tired
For she was born for no other cause
And she was happy

I May Forget

I may forget to text you
Forget to call when I’m away
But never forget to love you
Even for a single day

I forget sometimes to hold you
Whisper sweet nothings in your ear
But I never forget to love you
Isn’t that right, my dear?

I may forget our first dance
Forget to kiss you good night
But I will never forget to love you
My dear, isn’t that right?

I may forget your birthday
Our anniversary and what-not
But I’ll never forget to love you
Love and love you a lot
I may forget who you are
Your memory and your thought
But I’ll never forget…
But I’ll never forget to… um… uh…

Genetics

All the wisdom that I’ve gained
All the lessons that I’ve learnt
From the mistakes that I’ve made
From the errors that I’ve done
I can only keep it to myself
I cannot pass it to my son
He intends to make his own mistakes
He intends to have his fun
I remember talking just like that
When my Daddy told me, “Son,
Do whatever you have to do
But never marry anyone.”

Arrested

Late last night I was caught
Taken to a country spot
Where they’ve built a brand new prison
Put me in for no reason
It is not what I deserve
A lifetime sentence I must serve
Take on many responsibilities
Marry, have kids, and other duties
Other captives are so glad
Have they all been turning mad?
Who would like to live this scare?
Live a life that’s full of care?
I just want to be who I am
I don’t want to be like them
I wanna get out of this jail
Run away and leave no trail
I must take care to play my cards
There’re so many security guards
On the job 24×7
Calling this place ‘A little heaven’
But no, I’m never buying that
This is worse than ‘Earth is flat’
They’re trying to have their way with me
No judge, no trial, no jury
Give me a little bit of time
I’ll absolve myself of this crime
Then this trauma will be over
And I’ll end up with no lover

A Club For The Lonely

Across the street, next to a mall
Behind a grand old steeple
They formed a little club, you see
For all the lonely people

At the entrance stood a giant sign —
FOR ALL THOSE WHO ARE LONELY
“Yes,” I said, “that is perfectly me
But I sure hope I’m not the only.”

As I walked in and opened the door
I found the receptionist missing
Through the window, I peeked outside
A couple there they were kissing

I let out a sigh and it echoed ’round
A thousand times in my ears
So I grabbed a chair and prayed and hoped
That somebody soon appears

The window offered joyous scenes
Like the one I mentioned before
So I turned around and faced the wall
Saying, “I can’t take it anymore.”

Hours passed staring at the wall
With Time so slowly crawling
But not a sound of a footstep on
The cracked floor I heard falling

It wasn’t long before I came
To realise I was the only
Soul to enter this lifeless place
Nothing’s ever felt so lonely

There and then I made a vow —
No one should go through what I went
Created a detailed subscription form
And declared myself president

Dr. Love

For many diseases they have found cure
About this disease nobody’s sure
Don’t worry, folks — just come to me
When you are blind, I’ll make you see
I’m Dr. Love

When you are struggling with sleepless nights
Your mind’s clogged up with tiffs and fights
I’m the hope when you have none
In a minute or two your treatment’s done
I’m Dr. Love

Don’t be afraid, just let me check
Next time you’re sick, you would be back
You can pay me when Peace arrives
I’m not making money, just saving lives
I’m Dr. Love

Give me your number, give me your problem
Or you can call me, I’m gonna solve ’em
When you’ve fallen deep down the well
I’m gonna pull you out of the hell
I’m Dr. Love

You’re sick with love, so where are you?
Outside my door there is no queue
Don’tya think Love is the worst disease?
I beg you to think twice, pretty please
I’m Dr. Love
