The Day My Zip Came Off

I was at school sitting still
When suddenly I felt a chill
I looked down and gave a cough
Yes my zip had come off

Very subtly I gave a try
To fix this damned and awful fly
Alas it was but in vain
I vowed to never stand up again

It was then that I heard a call
Of our Maths teacher — Ms. Bichenall
She wanted me to look less bored
And solve the problem on the board

I felt some drops of sweat appear
As the outcome became more clear
Not exactly sure what I was thinking
I began to act like I was drinking

Jumped up and went straight for the door
With a book hiding my core
My senses must have gone to roam
I hopped the gate and dashed to home

This is not bad as it is
I only must see a psychiatrist
To avoid embarrassment to my name
I’m now treated as insane

If Your Cat Purrs

If your cat purrs in clear terms
That she’ll like to eat some worms
Do exactly what she says
But if your cat meows for beer
You should make it very clear
She can’t always have her ways

Freddy Is A Cute Black Toad

Freddy is a cute black toad
Who works in an office down the road
Though he’s just an office clerk
And makes very little for his work
He’s happy and extremely kind
The kind of toad that’s hard to find

An Ant And An Elephant

An elephant told an ant
“You ride on my back all day
Even I want to feel what it’s like
On someone’s back to lay.”

The ant told the elephant
“You stomp on my kind all day
Even I would like to stomp and crush
All others in my way.”

A Frog With A Giant Nose

There is a frog with a very big nose
He has no friends but a thousand foes
Every secret he would disclose
Not a word he holds too close

He also has quite massive eyes
Seemingly from all the lies
That he spoke about white mice
Yet he thinks that he is wise

What do I say about his ears?
They have been growing for some years
For causing koalas to shed tears
And making rabbits grow new fears

And that is not all that is odd
For a tongue he’s got a rod
And a head that just can’t nod
Oh what a bod! My dear God!

Only the clever piggy knows
The cure for froggy’s giant nose
How he could fit in his clothes
From his head to his toes
Since the frog was never nice
The piggy won’t give his advice
To cure his tongue, his ears, his eyes
Till he won’t stop acting wise

Love Will Get To You

When you’re sad and broken
Without a single clue
No sweet words have been spoken
No smile to give you too
Don’t let it get to your head
Though joys may be only few
When you sleep on your bed
Tonight Love will get to you
Yes, Love will get to you

I Won’t Die Till I’ve Had You

Now we may not be together
This distance but won’t last forever
I’ll be there I promise you
Hold you tight and love you too
Nothing can stop me now I swear
Where you are I’ll be there
I’ll be there I promise you
I won’t die till I’ve had you

Troubled thoughts may block my way
Petty doubts won’t go away
Yet none of that will bother me
I’ll be yours you just see
For I have the purest love for you
For your love anything I’ll do
With every day it grows anew
I can’t die till I’ve had you

Open the doors, wait for me
Close your eyes and count to three
I’ll be there when you open your eyes
Together we’ll spend our beautiful lives
You don’t know how eager am I
To hold your hand, look in your eye
Very soon it will come true
I won’t die till I’ve had you

I Left A Seat Vacant

I left a seat vacant
In my heart for you
No one else could have it
That only you can do
I’ll keep you warm and cozy
There is no better place
So come on out and grab it
Fill it with your grace

Every Night I’ll Watch You

Every night I’ll watch you
Until you have fallen asleep
Then I’ll message you
“I love you”
For if one day you wake up
But I don’t
You’ll know
What my last words were
For you

My Favourite Poem

I like poems that make me laugh
An aching neck of an old giraffe
An orangutan who chased his tail
An orange zebra all set to sail

I also like the ones about ghosts
The silly one where they eat their hosts
The gruesome one about a witch
Who threw little children in a ditch

Then there are poems that inspire me
Give me hope amidst a tragedy
Throw sunshine on a dark day
When nothing seems to go my way

What can I say about poems that rhyme?
I love to read them all the time
The tone and meter is well set
Once you read them, you can’t forget

All these poems I love a lot
When there’s nothing, they’re all I’ve got
I read them all, I love them too
But my favourite poem is You
