Only One Answer

What is it about you that makes my heart melt?
What is it that pushes all the worries out of my mind?
What is it in you that charms my heart to the fullest?
What is it? What is it? I keep asking myself

I’ve scratched my head but no answer I have found
I have contemplated all alternatives rationally
I have tried to glance into the depths of my faculties
I have tried; I have tried; and I have failed

After crossing out all possibilities off my list
After twisting and turning many sleepless nights
After a year of rumination there is only solution that remains
It is love; it is love; it could only be love

Love is a disease for which no vaccine exists
Love is an addiction approved by society
Love is an attack on your faculties
Love is an epidemic

Love Is A Feather

Love is a feather
Floating tenderly with the breeze
Falling in your palm
Often unexpectedly
Don’t hold it too tightly
Lest you crush it
Hold it lightly
Feel its soft touch
Caress it with affection
Examine it carefully
You could make out the dove
From whom this thing of beauty dropped
What is that dove but a collection of such feathers
One piece is in your hands
Be gentle and caring
It will stick to your palm
For as long as you want
It may seem small but believe me when I say
It is everything

What You Mean To Me

I guess I’ve never told
You what you mean to me
How grand a place you hold
In life’s moments to be

My lips fail me every
Time that I try to speak
My heart falls in a reverie
Showing from cheek to cheek

I’m glad I’ve always showed you
Instead just what you mean
My love has always flowed through
In acts of stream serene

For man is yet to find a better
Method of conveying love
Far better than a penned letter
Is a gesture of true love

If I Could Paint True Love

If I could paint true love
I would use your colours
Dip my brush in your skin
Create a tender scene

Her Magnetism

What magnet does she possess
That pulls me towards her?
What could I be possibly made of
That I cannot resist her?
How do I escape this attraction
When I’m caught in her field?
How do I break this wizardry?
Where do I find a shield?

You Are Beautiful

I think that you are beautiful
With a delightful innocence
With a kindness-leaking heart
Flowing in abundance
But you do not think so

I see that you are beautiful
With dark mysterious eyes
With lips that tell a story
That no shade can disguise
But you do not see so

I believe that you are beautiful
Nature’s finest song
Melodious and soothing
For me to hum along
But you do not believe so

Believe me please believe me
See what I can see
Your soul is the finest specimen
Of humankind’s beauty

Come To Me

Come to me with all your sadness
With all your scars and your aches
Come to me

Come to me with all your madness
With all your cracks and heartbreaks
Come to me

Come to me without a thought
Whether you’re broken or you think you’re not
Come to me

Come to me with an open heart
Even though it is lonely for a start
Come to me

Come to me and I will try
Ensure that you never have to cry
No more sorrows or goodbyes
Come come to me

Come to me I will heal
No more hurt you will feel
You will know the joy that’s real
Come come to me

Love Is Blind

Love can never spot a lie
Love can never will to try
To uncover the truth to find
Love is blind love is blind

Love cares not for beautiful things
To Love even toxicity brings
A joy of no comparable kind
Love is blind love is blind

Love will keep old photographs
That give more aches than more laughs
Refusing to leave the memories behind
Love is blind love is blind

Love will leave no stone unturned
Will push you in the wrong direction
It will leave you much maligned
Love is blind love is blind

Love never seems to mind
If the other person is unkind
In not a good way you will find
Love is blind love is blind

I Sit Down With My Heart

I sit down with my heart to write a poem for you
There’s a desk and two chairs and plenty of blank pages
I stare at the keys of the laptop and I freeze
Anxiety and Fear are uninvited guests
They don’t have chairs so they dance around
Sometimes they jump on the desk
And sometimes they jump over my head
It’s an all-too-familiar sight
That is why I have my heart with me today
To drive those things away
And maybe crash them into a sturdy tree
Or even into a building perhaps
My fingers tap the surface and my heart sees it
I need a pat on my back just for sitting there
My heart duly does so
With its hand on my shoulder I begin to type
It is not the greatest first-line
But it will do
Since Anxiety and Fear have vanished
They couldn’t stand my heart
They wanted me all for themselves
I turn to my heart and smile
And then I continue typing a poem for you
