Deep beneath the ocean bed
Where no man has ever tread
Blossom a pair of dainty flowers
In a cave where mermaids tend
And fishes sing for nights on end
For the plants holding love’s powers
It is said that the glowing bloom
Were consigned to lasting gloom
Eons ago in the guise of lovers
Brutally killed and dumped in sea
By their own damned family
They found a home in the ocean’s covers
There they blush for eternity
Away from all monstrosity
Tangled and embracing for suns
And I know this to be true
I’ve watched their dance and sang their due
I myself was a salmon once

I could have been saved
Do not be scared, my love
I’m not here to harm you
I need an answer before
I pass on through the door
I don’t mean to intrude
Upon your serene dreams
Or turn them into a nightmare

As you seek mental peace
Did it not hurt you
To see my light extinguish?
Did it not affect you
As I fell into an eternal slumber?
You could have touched my hand
Held me close to you
Your warmth had always saved me
It would have been enough
I am not asking for much
I wouldn’t have bothered you
If it didn’t burn me inside
Give me an answer and tell me

Between Life and Death a tussle’s ongoing
Humans are mere pawns
A precious life we’ll keep on losing
Till a side has won
I wouldn’t mind if he went out
With his friends to play some ball
And came back home quite late at night
Bruised or injured from a fall
It would be great if he went to a bar
Or a library to play some chess
And came home talking variations
About which I couldn’t care less
But I do mind that he stays home
With his phone always in his hand
Acts like nobody else exists
This behaviour I can’t understand
A couple of days ago I
Locked him in his room upstairs
Thought it would bring him to his senses
Turns out he’s totally unaware

Isn’t it amazing that in one
Part of the world a war is
Raging while the rest of the
World is carrying on normally?
It is simply stunning that in
This day and age a country
Can dare to wage war against
Another nation unabashedly
What is also worth noticing
Is that the war has been going
On for too long now; a bad
Precedent has been set in stone
I do not understand wars very well
I don’t understand power and control
I do not understand politics and economics
I don’t understand greed and victory
That comes at the cost of human lives
I do understand freedom
That we seem to take for granted
I do understand that nothing
Could justify taking an innocent life
Let alone thousands
I do understand how difficult it must be
For those who survive
Often death must seem
A kinder alternative to them
We have blood on our hands
We let this happen
We are too weak, too passive
Too silent, too uncaring
Too selfish, too diplomatic
Too busy, too foolish
The war is here and we are a part of it

I try to laugh but I start to cry
Next day I’ll best forget
Mistakes and regrets
I try to smile but I’m upset
I know you’re gone but you’re still there
Somewhere in this warm air

I’m doing well I guess so
Under your wings I lay low
Going strong going slow
He’s goofy, clumsy and a geek
He comes home crying once a week
Is he gonna improve? I doubt it
I asked my wife if we could
Put him up for sale for good
She said she would have to think about it
