When I look in the mirror
I do not see my skin
The reflection pierces
Through my chest and
Presents a skeletal remain

I see the bones that make me
The intricate veins that carry
My blood from head to toe
I see the brain glowing
From thoughts and electricity
And a little heart thumping
Pumping continuously

I take a closer look
To see what it is
Exactly that makes
My heart beat this
Way

It is then and there
That I find you
Labouring
Running
Working
Tending
Ensuring that it
Always keeps beating

Every time I look
In the mirror
I feel reassured

In this perfectly grim and senseless world
You are a beacon of light
A meaning to my life
A reason for my being

If not for you I’d be lost
In the depths of this raging sea
Which is ever ready to consume me

If not for you I’d be a ghost
Awaiting impatiently the end of time
Haunting myself in the process

You lift me from the drudgery
You replenish my breaths with hope
You are the morning of my day
You are the silver moon of the night
You glue me back to a whole
Every time that I break down
You are the only true magician
