A Lifetime I Would Wait For Her

A lifetime I would wait for her
Of that I was willing
Now she’s stood me for hours
The wait’s quite killing
I promised I would bring to her
The moon and everything
She said she didn’t want much
Except a diamond ring
A lot of other promises
I had falsely made
She punched me in my right eye
The price is being paid
So all you young girls
And all you young boys
Don’t play with those words of yours
Unlike your little toys
You’d end up just like me
Full of racking scars
On a bright day of January
You’d be seeing stars

  1. Wise advice with this beautifully written poem. Why do we still place too much value on material things like a diamond ring when it comes to love relationships? Why promise things that can never be fulfilled? Why are we still slaves of capitalism which destroys human relationships?

  2. A lifetime I waited for him,
Finally one day,he came, a box in hand,
A diamond ring with a celtic knot, he said
to remind us of our infinite love…
    With sweet guitar music and
    A dancing mob so grand,
he get down on one knee,
looking so handsome as he can be
And asked those four words which made me jump for glee
    For making me his bride-to-be.

    1. About time we recognised being strong is good. Luckily it does not have to translate into being a (I hate saying this word) bitch…
a quiet, focused ladylike poise is just as ‘strong ‘ as a female shouting and strutting.
Mind you, I reserve the right to do so on rare occasions 🤣🤣💃🏼🌸
