My Phone and I

Mom and dad are not too pleased

I’m spending too much time with my phone

They asked me to get some exercise

I told them to leave me alone

Mom thinks I should do my homework

My grades are crashing down

If I don’t make it through school

I’ll end up as a circus clown

Mom also thinks she’s very funny

That I’ve inherited that bone

But I do not agree with that

Neither does my phone

Dad says that I’m a bum

I barely move a muscle

I’m too lazy to argue that

I could beat him in a tussle

He really shouldn’t criticize

What he cannot understand

He would never realize

My phone is my only friend

Mom and dad are not too pleased

I’m spending too much time with my phone

They asked me to get some exercise

So I untangle my earphones

  1. “And the dragon lost the battle, and he and his angels were forced out of heaven. This great dragon—the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world—was thrown down to the earth with all his angels. Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens, “It has come at last— salvation and power and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down to earth— the one who accuses them before our God day and night. And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.”

  3. Remember, Frank, if you walk around
In headphones you won’t hear the sound
Of me on my bike, despite my bell!
I rode off today, and was going quite well,
When out stepped a girl with eyes on her phone
Thank God neither one of us broke any bone.
    Staying in bed
    may beat breaking your head,
but best get out for some air …

AND PLEASE, PLEASE, TAKE GOOD CARE!
