A footballer’s life is so much fun

Getting paid to kick and run

If there’s something they have won

It’s a contract worth a trillion

…

You see them smile. You see them laugh

When posing for a photograph

Fans dying for their autographs

Like they’re pink polka-dotted giraffes

…

They drive around in fancy cars

Meet celebrities and superstars

Drink wine and smoke cigars

In the city’s expensive bars

…

At the peak of their shallow fame

They find themselves beautiful dames

Who act in films with royal names

And take home awards and acclaims

…

Here I am with my loyal cat

Writing about this and that

Growing old with belly fat

Such’s a life of a poet
