So Am I

Mirrors are broken
Rules are broken
Promises are broken
So am I
Hearts are broken
So am I

Wallet is lost
Memory is lost
Family is lost
So am I
Mind is lost
So am I

Babies are crying
Shame is crying
Needs are crying
So am I
Clouds are crying
So am I

Body is weak
Resistance is weak
Faith is weak
So am I
Men are weak
So am I

Glass is empty
House is empty
Soul is empty
So am I
Thoughts are empty
So am I

Battery is dead
Ideas are dead
Chester is dead
I will be too
Hopes are dead
I will be too

  1. I am a prosaic type and poetry rarely speaks to me. When it does, I’m not sure I hear what I’m supposed to hear. I console myself by thinking that the power of poetry allegedly lies in its ability to invite various interpretations. What I just read gave me goosebumps! The staccato pace makes it as powerful as a hammer blow and the desolation that pours from it is gut-wrenching. Of course, I could be reading it all wrong. Anyway, I’m awed!
Oh, and I came here to thank you for reading one of my posts and giving it your stamp of approval. It’s highly appreciated. Stay creative and make it to that 1 billion mark 🙂

      1. I am struggling with some depression and anxiety issues myself due to the mess of a government we have now. I spend time on WordPress to find the good in humanity again. Your poetry is moving. Thanks for sharing. And remember, you are important. Think of how much we all enjoy your work.

  2. Frank, your poem reflects true poetry – your soul within your heart. You are life and with life is hope and with that hope you present the soul of your heart. Thank you.
