Writing A Book

I really want to write a book

But I don’t know where to start

Putting words together

Isn’t really my art

I lack the motivation

I make a lot of mistakes

I am easily distracted

I don’t have what it takes

I don’t know what to write about

Drama, thriller or love

I can’t even name the characters

I need a sign from above

What if I write something ugly?

What if my book is panned?

What if nobody likes it?

What if my book is banned?

Why do I think so much?

Who do I have to please?

I should just write to please myself

And put myself at ease

So I’ll just take a paper

I’ll pick up a pen

Write three hundred words today

And do it tomorrow again

  1. This one is really good Frank. I guess almost every writer can relate to it very well, nice work. And thank you for passing by my blog, i got to know a good writer. 🙂

  2. I like this post/poem. It really is one day and one word at a time. I wrote and wrote and wrote for years. On the back of receipts while waiting in the school pick up lane, while chapters on my phone, I actually found myself having conversations with my characters and think What Would Kara Do? It’s all consuming. But it starts with one word, and one leads to two, and two to three. And before you know it you get somewhere. Just keep writing. Even if it’s only for you, if it’s what you love, just do it!

  3. Frank, do you have an idea for a story? If you do, begin to write and write and write. No biggie. Just do it. The next day reread it, make corrections and continue if you care about it. BTW, when you stop by my blog, please leave a comment. That way, I’ll get to know you. Thanks. Charmaine

  4. Write what you want to write, but get feedback, don’t be afraid of what other people tell you. Sometimes they don’t always know what they’re talking about, but other times they do. Choose wisely, think deeply, and remember that this book is yours and no else cares about it more than you do.

  5. I started by reading, settling on a favorite genre, a favorite author and I just wrote. I wrote more. Along the way I found my voice, and wrote and rewrote several times. You can absolutely write. Give it a try!

  6. Haha, putting words together definitely worked for you here! This was quite relatable, as I have ideas for stories I would love to tell but I do not know how to tell them. Thank you, and if you are writing a book you may have the best of luck! 🙂

  7. Wow i feel the same way all the tie! As for the character names though, I used to use a name generator website to get inspiration for my characters. Maybe it would help? Wish you the best with your book.~ Pluto

  8. There is so much you can write about. And given the fact that you are good with words, doing it wont be a problem. I love the Piece. It’s beautiful. Happy new year Frank. You rock.

  10. That’s a great poetry work and I love it. I can’t stop laughing at those rhetorical questions but at the end you figure out how to go about it; I wish you a wonderful and prosperous new year and I hope you will be motivated to complete a book.

  11. I have told you this before, but you can do anything you put your mind to. You can persevere through the hardest moments and be successful in the end. I love that you have the confidence in yourself. Fly with it.

  12. You nailed it. Just write.
The way I approach it is to just allow my hands to put into the world what my eyes would like to be reading in that instant.
    Then edit.
